Will Duchon comes to WMNR with a broad background in music education and performance. He began studying piano at age seven in his hometown of White Plains, NY with Robert Canfield, and has vast experience in public performance as a recitalist and soloist with various orchestras. One of his greatest thrills was performing the Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 1 at age 17 with a community orchestra in Merida, Mexico. Will has performed as a concerto soloist with local orchestras, including the Danbury Symphony and the American Chamber Orchestra.
Will is a graduate of SUNY Purchase. He has performed at Carnegie’s Weill Hall numerous times both as a piano soloist and in collaborations with other musical artists. Will has recorded four CDs of solo piano works: Tableaux, Where Beauty Dwells, La Valse, and most recently, Cantilena. These albums, found here, include music by Rachmaninov, Scriabin, Chopin, Ravel, Liszt, Bach-Busoni, Poulenc, Brahms, Villa-Lobos, Clarice Assad, Richard Rodney Bennett, Medtner, and other composers.
Will has been a church musician since 1981 and is currently serving as Music Director for Monroe Congregational Church in Monroe, CT. He also created a nonprofit organization devoted to advocating for wrongfully convicted prison inmates.
